First Line Company Officer: 
The Awareness Level
 Class should be offered early-2009.  Check back periodically for exact dates and location.
This course is the first part in our CO series.  It is an Awareness Level program which will help in the development of company officers.  It is intended to make "better bosses." 
This program is based on issues that an officer may encounter on a daily basis.
**This class (or comparable training) must be completed prior to registering for the next level course**

  • Developing Goals
  • Operational Planning
  • Shift Dynamics
  • Legal Issues that Affect the CO
  • Customer Service
  • Politics
  • Code Enforcement & Public Education
  • Organizational Management

Level 2 - Operations
 
This course is the second part in our CO series.  This class focuses on the same key areas for the officers identified in our first awareness course, but takes them up a notch.  Rather than being focused on the company level officer, it is focused on the station or multiple company officer.
**Completion of our first course, Awareness Level (or comparable training), is required prior to taking this course.**
This class seeks out that "Higher Level of Understanding" in the following areas:
  • Transition to New Roles and Responsibilities
  • Operational Planning Principles
  • Tactics and Strategies
  • Communication
  • Health and Safety
  • Human Resources
  • Legal Issues
  • Professional Fire Service
  • Development of Goals
  • Code Enforcement
  • Training
